TikTok Search Ads Adds Impression Share Metrics and Keyword Packs
TikTok's Q4 2026 preview confirms Impression Share and Top 1 Impression Share metrics for Search Ads, plus daily-refreshed curated Keyword Packs in the suggestion tool.

- TikTok's Q4 2026 Product Preview adds Impression Share and Top 1 Impression Share metrics to Search Ads Campaigns, announced October 30.
- Keyword Packs are 'ready-made, curated' brand and category keyword groups, refreshed daily using search volume, CPC and competition.
- Share metrics appear at campaign, advertiser, and keyword levels in TikTok Ads Manager.
- TikTok published no metrics splitting impression share lost to budget versus ranking.
- Keyword suggestions within Search Ads setup first launched in the U.S. in September 2024.
TikTok's Product Preview for Q4 2026 confirms two new impression share metrics for Search Ads Campaigns, plus curated keyword groups called Keyword Packs inside its Keyword Suggestion Tool. The company laid out both features in an October 30 post — and unlike most platform teasers, this one comes with working definitions.
What do the two share metrics actually measure?
TikTok's help page defines them precisely:
- Impression Share: the percentage of eligible search results impressions your ads captured.
- Top 1 Impression Share: the percentage of eligible first-position search results impressions your ads captured.
The October 30 post frames both in auction terms, describing them as showing "the percentage of eligible search auctions an advertiser's keywords successfully won on the Search Results Page." Neither the post nor the help page explains how TikTok counts the eligible opportunities a campaign didn't win — a notable gap for advertisers trying to audit the denominator.
The metrics surface at three levels in TikTok Ads Manager: campaign, advertiser, and keyword. The help page says Ads Manager may show them for eligible Search Ads Campaign and TopSearch campaigns. TopSearch, a CPM-billed Search Ads option, places an ad in the first sponsored position for a keyword when it wins the auction. Availability varies by account, campaign type, market, and product rollout status, per the help page.
What does TikTok recommend when share is low?
TikTok's help page says a low impression share may signal an opportunity to capture additional eligible impressions, depending on budget, bidding, keyword coverage, creative relevance, competition level, and fluctuation of search volume.
The troubleshooting section uses spending as its first fork. If a campaign exhausts its budget, TikTok recommends increasing the budget to capture more eligible impressions. If the campaign isn't spending its available funds, TikTok says to check whether your bid is competitive for those keywords. Remaining suggestions: review the keyword list for additions, and make sure creative and landing pages match the keywords.
One limitation stands out. Neither the help page nor the Reporting Guide TikTok published in April offers metrics measuring how much impression share was lost specifically to budget versus ranking — a distinction Google Ads has long made with its lost IS metrics.
What are Keyword Packs?
TikTok says its Keyword Suggestion Tool "can now recommend" Keyword Packs to advertisers — "ready-made, curated" groups built from brand and category keywords. Advertisers can preview and add packs through the existing workflow.
TikTok refreshes the pack suggestions daily, using metrics including but not limited to search volume, cost-per-click, and competition, and says the lists are "backed by TikTok's machine learning models."
Context matters here. Brooke Osmundson covered the inclusion of keyword suggestions within Search Ads setup when it launched in the U.S. in September 2024. The current help section, last revised in November 2025, references suggested keywords with monthly impression predictions and match types — but doesn't mention packs. TikTok also runs a separate Keyword Planner with search volume and competition data for planners building their own lists.
The post doesn't say which markets or accounts get Keyword Packs, or how TikTok selects the terms in a brand pack.
How should advertisers act on this?
Where a share metric appears in your account, start at the keyword-level view and find terms capturing only a small percentage of their eligible impressions. Then work through TikTok's troubleshooting sequence — budget exhaustion first, bid competitiveness second.
For Keyword Packs, the preview TikTok describes is the place to review brand terms before adding them to a campaign.
Watch the suggestion tool help page, last updated November 2025, for market and account eligibility details. Until TikTok updates it, the practical check is direct: look in Ads Manager reporting for the share metrics, and in keyword setup for Keyword Pack suggestions.
