Google Search Console Now Filters Performance Report by Multiple Countries
Google Search Console's Performance report can now combine traffic for multiple countries at once, Google Search Central announced on LinkedIn on Oct. 6, easing multi-market analysis.
- Google Search Central announced the multi-country filter update on LinkedIn on Oct. 6.
- The Performance report previously limited multi-item analysis to two-item comparisons for devices, countries, Search types, and Search appearances.
- Google's screenshot shows three countries selected simultaneously on the Filter tab.
- The two-item comparison rule was still live on Google's help page on the day of the announcement.
Google Search Console's Performance report can now display combined Google Search traffic for multiple countries at once, an update Google Search Central announced on LinkedIn on October 6.
The announcement reads: "Today we're updating the Search Console performance report filters to make it easier for you to analyze traffic patterns across different countries and devices. If you operate in multiple countries, you can now view their combined Google Search traffic."
What does the update change?
Google's accompanying screenshot shows the Country filter with two tabs, Filter and Compare, plus checkboxes for individual countries. On the Filter tab, three countries are selected simultaneously — something the report previously could not do.
The post also says the update affects devices and countries, but Google did not specify what changed in the Device filter. The screenshot only illustrates country selection.
How did filtering work before?
Google's help page spelled out the old constraint: when you need data for multiple devices, Search types, countries, or Search appearance types, "you must use a comparison (limited to two items)."
That comparison view displays a Difference column to highlight what differs between the two items, and Search Console allows only one comparison at a time.
The Performance report already supported matching several values at once in other dimensions. Query and page filters accept multiple values, including regular expressions.
Notably, the two-item comparison rule was still listed on the help page the day Google announced the update — a sign that Google's documentation often lags behind shipped features.
Who benefits most?
The clearest winner is any team managing multi-market sites. If you monitor several European markets, for example, you can now view combined traffic for the entire group in a single Performance report view under the Country filter.
Before this change, such teams had to run separate reports per country or settle for a two-country comparison with a Difference column. The new checkbox-based Filter tab removes that friction.
One caveat: Google's help page still shows a comparison example with only two countries side by side, so the documented Compare experience has not visibly caught up with the announcement.
What should site owners watch next?
Google's LinkedIn post says the filters are being updated "today" but does not confirm whether all properties receive the change simultaneously. If the feature is missing from your account, a rollout delay is the likely explanation.
Watch the Search Console help page for revisions covering all four filter types — devices, Search types, countries, and Search appearance — and for any change to the Compare tab's two-item limit. Google's documentation update will signal whether the Compare view gains multi-item support or stays capped at two.
